100 yds or 2 oz of any worsted weight cotton yarn. Suggestions include Lily Sugar ’n Cream, Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton, Bernat Handicrafter, Red Heart Creme de la Creme, Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton

US Size I/9 (5.5mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors (Or try a Happy Crochet Hook. You’ll love it!)



8” x 8”

Not essential to this pattern.

Stitch Abbreviations
ch – chain, sc – single crochet, hdc – half double crochet, BLO – back loop only, FLO – front loop only

Special Stitches
3rd loop = skip front and back top loops and work sts into 3rd loop of hdc behind front and back loops. When working in turned rows, the 3rd loop is in front of work.

1. Dishcloth is worked flat in rows, the border is then worked in rounds.
2. Beginning ch-1 of each row does not count as a st.



Ch 25.
Row 1 (RS):  Working in back bump of ch, hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn—24 hdc.
Row 2:  Ch 1, *3rd loop hdc in next, FLO hdc in next, BLO hdc in next, FLO hdc in next; repeat from * across, turn—24 hdc.
Row 3:  Ch 1 *BLO hdc in next, FLO hdc in next, 3rd loop hdc in next, FLO hdc in next; repeat from * across, turn—20 hdc.
Rows 4-15:  Repeat Rows 2-3.
Continue to Border.

Round 1 (RS):  Ch 1, rotate to work in row ends, [work 21 sc across side, (sc, ch 1, sc) in corner, sc in each st across, (sc, ch 1, sc) in corner] twice, sl st to 1st sc to join.
Round 2:  Ch 1, [*BLO hdc in next, FLO hdc in next; repeat from * across side, (hdc, ch 1, hdc) in corner ch-1 space] 4 times, sl st to 1st hdc to join.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
