Newborn Watermelon Hat
Any medium weight yarn, you’ll need pink (A), black (B), and green (C).
US Size G/6 (4.0mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors.
2-dc Cluster = *Yo, insert hook into indicated st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops; repeat from * twice, yo and draw through 3 loops.
1. Drop unworked colour and pick it back up when needed.
With A, make a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 1, 12 dc in ring, join–12 sts.
Round 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in each st around, join–24 sts.
Round 3: Ch 2, *2 hdc A, 2-dc cluster B; repeat from * around, join–36 sts.
Drop B, continue with A.
Round 4: Ch 2, *2 hdc, hdc 2; repeat from * around, join–48 sts.
Rounds 5-6: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join–48 hdc.
Round 7: Ch 2, *hdc 3 A, 2-dc cluster B; repeat from * around, join–48 sts.
Rounds 8-9: Repeat Rounds 5-6.
Round 10: Repeat Round 5.
Round 11: Repeat Round 7.
Rounds 12-13: Repeat Rounds 5-6.
Round 14: Repeat Round 5.
Fasten off A, and B. Change to C.
Round 15: Repeat Round 5.
Round 16: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join.
Fasten off, weave in all ends.
